Station 3 was Roanoke City’s first LEED certified public facility. Some of the sustainable components in this LEED Gold facility include a 10,000 gallon rainwater harvesting system. This water is used for landscaping and washing the trucks. Pervious concrete and a bio-retention pond were also used to minimize the amount of run-off entering into the storm sewer.
